Michael MacLellan Tracey ~ Photography

Michael learnt the techniques of black and white photography from Bill Noone of Cairns and his brother in law Merv Harris in Townsville. He was seven years old when introduced to cameras, darkrooms and location shooting. He continued his learning while in the Royal Australian Engineers and a technical college in Sydney. After working as professional photographer in Sydney he returned to Townsville and started an industrial photography service for the Townsville Harbour Board, Mount Isa Mines and CSIRO. He also provided a photographic service for commercial business such as David Jones. Photography was to continue into his academic career where his photographic work presented in his academic research was highly regarded.
